Re:Build Manufacturing, part of a family of industrial businesses focused on revitalizing the U.S. manufacturing base, is seeking a Production Engineer for its Tekna subsidiary in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Tekna, founded in 1988, provides design consulting, contract manufacturing, and OEM services across medical, life science, consumer, and industrial sectors. The Production Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and sustaining manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment. Key responsibilities include evaluating existing processes to identify improvements, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and analyzing production data to inform management decisions. The role requires applying Lean and Theory of Constraints principles, collaborating across organizational levels to implement process improvements, and working closely with maintenance teams on predictive and preventative programs. Additional duties encompass optimizing workstation layouts and assembly methods, conducting in-house process validations, supporting new product development teams with design-for-manufacturability guidance, and performing engineering changes to sustain production. The engineer will write and update production procedures, resolve supplier and production nonconformities with the quality department, liaise with suppliers and customers, research and implement new equipment and systems, and provide technical support to production personnel. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience) with 3–5 years in a manufacturing environment. Required skills include knowledge of production equipment, leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, IT proficiency, and commercial awareness. The role emphasizes operator ergonomics and workplace safety throughout all initiatives.
