Salary: USD 129,000 - 171,000 / annual
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Product Sourcing Engineer to drive strategic supply network development and cost management for maritime hardware products across their lifecycles. This role bridges engineering, quality, manufacturing, and supplier partnerships to accelerate product development and optimize total cost of ownership.
Key responsibilities include: conducting supplier selection leveraging approved supplier lists; partnering with strategic suppliers on concept scoping, feature trade-offs, should-cost modeling, and joint design development; developing and consolidating manufacturing BOMs with quality and manufacturing teams; managing CAPEX throughout new product introduction; conducting value-stream mapping to optimize supply network lead time and flexibility; completing BOM risk assessments with alternate component sourcing; ensuring component qualifications ahead of production; optimizing commonality and rationalizing components/suppliers; and leading cost engineering activities to converge bottom-up cost curves to product targets while maximizing lifecycle TCO.
The role requires managing ad-hoc cost issues including tariffs, import/export costs, and cost inflation. Travel is expected 10-40% of the time based on program needs, with relocation to Costa Mesa required if not already local.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field; 3+ years in sourcing engineering, supplier engagement/development, or design of electronics/mechanical devices; domain expertise in value/procurement engineering or TCO work at component and product levels. Preferred: Master's degree; deeper experience in electronics/mechanical design, advanced sourcing, supplier development, early supplier engagement, high-mix low-volume environments, startup experience, and ability to obtain Top Secret security clearance.
