Counterpart is an insurtech platform building the first Agentic Insurance™ system, combining advanced AI with deep insurance expertise to help small businesses manage professional liability and management risk. The platform is backed by A-rated carriers and trusted by brokers nationwide. As Product Operations Lead, you'll be the operational backbone enabling a small team to run a national insurance platform. You'll identify and eliminate bottlenecks across product, underwriting, and engineering, ensuring the company moves at the pace required by the market. Key responsibilities include: **Operational Excellence**: Hunt down the biggest bottlenecks in each function and fix them systematically. You'll be measured on how many you clear, not how many you document. Remove unnecessary steps before adding new ones. Use AI daily in your own work—you should be one of the heaviest AI users in the company. **New Product Launches**: Lead launches end-to-end from kickoff until they run independently. Translate product strategy into clear specifications for pricing, data, and engineering. Set build order with engineering and data teams, holding priorities when they compete. **Systems & Expertise**: Build simple systems allowing underwriting and pricing experts to enter their own rules and judgment without routing through you. Maintain consistent terminology across all systems and teams. Set up fast feedback loops from policies, claims, and lost deals to quickly identify what's working. **Change Control & Quality**: Create one clear process for any changes to coverage, rules, or pricing—eliminating ad hoc changes. Catch problems in testing before they reach customers. Consolidate existing programs onto shared infrastructure. You'll work closely with Tobias Schuler (Chief Underwriting Officer, former Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and data/systems leader at QBE and Munich Re), Dave Lin (Head of Product and Engineering, scaled B2B platforms at Yext, Apple, Amazon), and Stanley Wang (Senior Director, Pricing Analytics, former actuary at USAA and data scientist at Munich Re Digital). This role touches every aspect of how an insurance product works—coverage language, pricing, filings, distribution—and every aspect of how an AI-native company operates.
