Morpho is a decentralized finance (DeFi) lending protocol backed by a16z crypto, Paradigm, Ribbit Capital, and others, with over $1 billion in deposits and institutional adoption from Bitwise, Galaxy, Anchorage Digital, and major exchanges including Coinbase, Binance, and Kraken. The company is scaling to establish itself as the open credit network globally.
The Protocol team is evolving the core lending infrastructure powering products and markets across the ecosystem. This Product Manager role will shape product strategy and guide execution at the intersection of technical systems, financial markets, and a fast-moving crypto ecosystem.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the protocol team's roadmap, defining high-impact problems and sequencing opportunities against company goals, user needs, technical constraints, and ecosystem dynamics
- Building and running continuous discovery with curators, distributors, integrators, developers, and other protocol users to understand workflows, pain points, and emerging needs
- Translating user and market insights into clear product requirements, decision frameworks, and success criteria
- Partnering closely with protocol, engineering, research, security, legal, solutions, partnerships, and marketing teams from exploration through design, implementation, audit, launch, and adoption
- Evaluating product and technical tradeoffs, deciding when to extend the protocol, improve infrastructure, enable partners, or avoid adding complexity
- Defining and tracking signals showing whether protocol initiatives are working, combining quantitative data with ecosystem feedback
- Communicating product direction, decisions, tradeoffs, and release implications to internal teams and external stakeholders
- Improving how product decisions are made and documented as Morpho scales
Success milestones: Within 30 days, understand the protocol, development process, current roadmap, and build relationships across teams and key ecosystem partners. Within 3 months, establish a clear prioritized view of protocol problems and opportunities with explicit tradeoffs and measurable outcomes; drive at least one meaningful initiative into execution. Within 6 months, ship a meaningful protocol improvement demonstrating advanced user or business outcomes and improve the product discovery and decision-making process.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years building technical products in complex or fast-changing environments
- Proven track record taking products or major features from ambiguous problem spaces through launch and iteration
- Strong technical fluency: ability to reason about system design and constraints, engage deeply with engineers and researchers, translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
- Excellent product judgment: distinguish important user problems from requests, make principled tradeoffs, focus teams on highest-impact work
- Strong user discovery and synthesis skills across different user types; turn incomplete or conflicting inputs into clear direction
- Experience leading cross-functional work without formal authority
- Ability to define success using quantitative and qualitative evidence; adapt direction as new information emerges
- Excellent written and verbal communication, especially in async environments
- Comfort creating clarity and driving decisions in highly ambiguous contexts
- Strong ownership and autonomy; act without waiting to be told
- Team-first mindset, low ego
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience in crypto, DeFi, traditional finance, or fintech
- Familiarity with lending markets, smart contracts, or permissionless protocols
- Experience shipping products with significant security, audit, regulatory, or governance considerations
