Vercel is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own the compute platform—Fluid compute, Vercel Functions, Sandbox, and related products—that powers every workload deployed on Vercel. You will set the strategic direction for how developers configure, scale, and run code on the platform, from single functions to multi-service architectures to AI agents.
Vercel has invested in its own microVM-based compute infrastructure (Fluid compute), which enables new capabilities like Sandboxes for running untrusted and agent-generated code. This role offers wide latitude to define what the platform delivers next.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the product vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for the compute platform
- Defining how Vercel serves AI and agent workloads, accounting for their fundamentally different compute profiles (long-running, I/O-bound, code-executing tasks) versus traditional request/response traffic
- Shaping the developer experience: resource models, attributes, APIs, and configuration files
- Partnering with Engineering on performance and reliability standards, including cold starts and creation latency
- Defining pricing for new products and resources
- Setting compute primitives that adjacent product teams build upon
- Working directly with Enterprise customers and the field on compute requirements that block adoption or scale
The role reports to the Product Lead and is based in San Francisco (hybrid with in-office anchor days Monday, Tuesday, and Friday for those within commuting distance; fully remote for those beyond).
Requirements:
- Proven experience building and shipping infrastructure or developer platform products, ideally in compute, serverless, containers, or runtime platforms
- Technical depth to reason about concurrency, cold starts, isolation models, and compute platform cost/performance tradeoffs
- Experience owning a platform area that other product teams build upon and setting technical direction others adopted
- Experience with AI or agent workloads and understanding how their resource profiles differ from conventional web traffic
- Experience working directly with Enterprise customers on infrastructure requirements
- Experience using usage and product analytics data to drive roadmap decisions
Bonus qualifications:
- Background at a cloud provider or on serverless, container, or edge compute platforms
- Engineering background or software-building experience
- Experience with multi-runtime platforms and language runtime tradeoffs
- Experience with sandboxing, isolation, or secure execution of untrusted code
