Boardable is board management software serving mission-driven organizations including nonprofits, community colleges, K-12 districts, associations, healthcare systems, and government entities. The company is established and growing steadily with plans for significant expansion over the next three years.
As Product Manager for the core Boardable platform, you will own the product work that serves board members and staff who use the platform weekly. Your domain covers agendas, minutes, meetings, documents, and associated workflows. This is a hands-on role with real control: you write requirements, shape the backlog, run planning with engineering, and stay with releases until they land. Decisions rest with you rather than in committee, and you'll see the impact of your choices on customers within weeks.
In your first 90 days, you will learn the product, segments, and governance workflows that customers operate within. You'll take over grooming and definition for in-flight work including the meeting series manager, agenda builder, and minutes. You'll maintain predictable release cadence with engineering and product marketing, sit in on support escalations and customer calls to understand user needs, and build a plan to shift backlog ownership fully to the Product Owner.
Ongoing responsibilities include writing clear specs and acceptance criteria for engineering, prioritizing work against customer value and revenue impact, running planning and retros with the Product Owner and Director of Engineering, talking directly with customers to inform the backlog, partnering with product marketing on releases, and working with Sales and Support on roadmap requests. You own outcomes: adoption, retention, and the product's contribution to expansion.
Boardable's AI product philosophy focuses on solving real problems rather than feature count. The company has AI capabilities in market and more in development aimed at making participation easier for board members and reducing work for supporting staff.
You report to the Chief Product Officer, who owns Product and Marketing and works directly with the CEO. You'll work daily with engineering leadership, the Product Owner, the engineering team, product marketing, and customer support.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years in product management at a B2B SaaS company, with shipped work you can walk through in detail
- Experience on a small team where you wrote requirements yourself and stayed close to the build
- Strong written communication (most decisions made in writing)
- Comfort with ambiguity and taking direction while learning a new domain
- Track record of talking to customers directly and changing what you built based on feedback
- Judgment about what not to build
- Ability to hold your own with engineers about tradeoffs, constraints, and implementation costs (technical degree not required)
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience serving nonprofits, education, government, or associations
- Work on products with low-frequency, high-stakes users (someone who shows up monthly and must succeed on first try)
- Shipped AI or LLM-backed features to real customers
- Accessibility work, particularly WCAG remediation in live products
- Familiarity with Jira and Productboard
