Avallon AI builds AI agents that automate the full insurance claims lifecycle—from intake to settlement. The company has grown from zero to seven figures ARR in twelve months and is now scaling 3X quarter-over-quarter, working with some of the largest insurance carriers in the world. The founding team includes builders from MIT, Harvard, and Cornell, and the company is backed by top investors. As a Product Engineer, you will build the platform that enables insurance teams to deploy and trust AI in real operations. You'll work closely with forward-deployed engineers, design, and customers to identify hard problems and turn them into product solutions that create immediate value while scaling cleanly. Key responsibilities: - Shape product direction from the start by working with customers, design, and product strategy to decide what gets built and why, rather than executing pre-made decisions. - Build the core platform surfaces—public chat interfaces for claimants, branded customer portals, and operational tools that the insurance industry will run on. - Enable confident automation by building clear, auditable claim context and review experiences that give teams control and visibility into agent work. - Own the full stack end-to-end in production: design data models, build backend systems, create interfaces, instrument for observability (Datadog RUM), and continuously improve based on real user behavior. - Take on meaningful challenges, ship quickly, measure impact in production, and iterate. You will be a full-stack product engineer working across the entire technology stack. The role is in-person in New York. REQUIREMENTS: - 3+ years building and owning meaningful software in production. You can point to a difficult challenge you solved or a system you built that changed what was possible, explain the reasoning, and answer for the outcome once live. - Full-stack product engineer who builds complete flows yourself. Proficiency in TypeScript and SQL; ability to design data models and backends as readily as interfaces. This is not a frontend-only role. - Experience building and operating LLM- or agent-powered products in production, with understanding of reliability and scale challenges. - Must be in-person in New York. NICE TO HAVE: - Domain knowledge in insurance, claims, or other regulated operational domains where reliability and traceability are critical. - Product management experience or ownership of product decisions and roadmap. - Early-stage company experience. - Founder or founding engineer background.
