Deep Fission is a nuclear technology company developing deep borehole pressurized water reactor systems. The company recently completed private placement financing and an Alternative Public Offering, now operating as a public company while maintaining startup agility.
The Procurement Specialist will own day-to-day procurement operations supporting engineering, drilling, and construction programs. Primary responsibilities include purchase order (PO) issuance and lifecycle management—sourcing, ordering, tracking, and closing out services, equipment, and materials with precision. The role also supports competitive solicitations including RFPs and RFIs for higher-value or first-of-a-kind buys.
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare, issue, and manage POs across all functions; monitor status from issuance through delivery, acceptance, invoicing, and close-out
- Resolve delays, discrepancies, and scope changes before they impact project schedules
- Administer PO amendments, change orders, and extensions in coordination with project managers and Legal
- Execute all POs in compliance with company policy, contract terms, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain clean, auditable procurement records including approvals and supporting documentation
- Build and sustain relationships with key suppliers; evaluate and recommend approved vendors
- Own supplier onboarding including documentation, insurance verification, and system setup
- Track supplier performance and escalate quality, delivery, or responsiveness issues
- Support RFP/RFI development, coordinate bidder questions and proposal intake, summarize evaluation results
- Partner with engineering, operations, and project management teams to anticipate needs and align on specifications
- Coordinate with Legal on master service agreements, contract terms, indemnity, and insurance requirements
- Improve procurement templates, workflows, and system configuration as spend grows
- Serve as day-to-day point of contact for internal procurement questions
This is a hands-on role on a team building its playbook. Procurement processes, systems, and supplier networks are being designed in real time, so the specialist will spend significant energy improving how the company buys alongside executing individual transactions.
