Salary: USD 165,000 - 205,000 / annual
Retell AI is a rapidly scaling voice AI company that has grown from $5M to $80M ARR in less than two years. The company uses first-principles thinking to reimagine the call center with cutting-edge voice AI, enabling thousands of companies to handle sales, support, and logistics calls with AI voice agents instead of large human teams. Backed by Y Combinator and valued at over $1.5B, Retell is building a modern CX platform where entire contact centers are powered by intelligent AI workers.
You will build and own procurement at Retell as the company scales. This is a high-ownership role for someone who is commercially sharp, analytical, and comfortable building things from scratch. You will own vendor selection, sourcing, negotiation, contracting, and ongoing vendor management across the company. You will work closely with Finance, Legal, Engineering, IT, HR, and leadership to ensure the company gets the best value from every major vendor and builds a procurement function that can scale.
Key responsibilities include: owning procurement from sourcing through contracting and renewals; leading vendor selection, evaluation, and negotiation; managing strategic software, infrastructure, and other company spend; identifying cost savings and vendor consolidation opportunities; building procurement processes, policies, and approval workflows from scratch; partnering with Finance and Legal on contracts, budgets, and vendor risk; tracking company spend and improving visibility into vendor costs; building strong relationships with key vendors and negotiating favorable terms; using automation and AI to make procurement faster and more efficient; and helping build the procurement function as Retell continues to scale.
You will operate independently without much existing structure, move quickly, and avoid unnecessary bureaucracy. Strong communication skills across Sales, Customer Success, Finance, Legal, Engineering, IT, and HR are essential.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or purchasing
- Strong vendor negotiation and contract negotiation experience
- Owned meaningful company spend
- Experience at a fast-growing technology company or startup
- Experience with SaaS, software, or technical procurement
- Highly analytical and comfortable working with spend data
- Ability to operate independently without much existing structure
- Experience building procurement processes or functions from scratch
- Ability to move quickly and avoid unnecessary bureaucracy
- Strong communication skills across multiple departments
