Peregrine Technologies, backed by leading Silicon Valley investors, is seeking its first in-house Procurement Manager to lead vendor management and purchasing across the organization. The role encompasses sourcing, vendor relationship management, contract negotiation, and renewal tracking across all departments including software/IT, marketing, travel, professional services, and employee operations.
Key responsibilities include: serving as the central point of contact for all purchasing decisions; managing vendor relationships and owning negotiations to secure favorable pricing and terms; tracking contract renewals and vendor performance; guiding stakeholders through sourcing decisions while maintaining purchasing discipline; consolidating redundant tools and optimizing spend across categories; coordinating vendor security reviews, data privacy assessments (SOC 2, DPAs), and contract risk review with Legal and Security teams; and building procurement processes and workflows from the ground up, including intake/PO systems and spend visibility tools.
The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of procurement, strategic sourcing, vendor management, or commercial negotiation experience, ideally at a high-growth technology or software company. You should have a proven track record independently owning vendor negotiations and contract management across multiple functions and spend categories. Strong negotiation skills are essential—the ability to create leverage, hold firm on price and terms, and make practical trade-offs that benefit the company. You must be comfortable buying across many categories simultaneously and juggling a broad vendor portfolio.
You'll need excellent cross-functional influence and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to push back when needed and keep purchasing disciplined without slowing teams down. Experience building procurement processes from scratch—intake workflows, contract tracking, spend visibility—and selecting lightweight tooling (spend-management or CLM platforms) in partnership with Finance is important. You should be organized, detail-oriented, and focused on driving savings through waste reduction and competitive vendor evaluation, not just price negotiation.
The role requires in-office presence in San Francisco to work closely with key business stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. This is a builder role—you'll be creating process where none exists and doing hands-on work as the first procurement hire.
