Helion is a fusion power company on a mission to build the world's first commercial fusion power plant. Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Everett, WA, the company has raised $1.5 billion from leading investors including Sam Altman, SoftBank, and Thrive Capital. Helion's prototype, Polaris, has achieved record-breaking plasma temperatures of 150 million degrees Celsius, and the company is advancing toward its commercial plant, Orion.
This newly created Indirect Procurement Manager role is driven by Helion's rapid growth and the need to scale procurement capabilities. You will build and lead a growing procurement team while establishing sourcing strategies and processes that support the company's next phase of expansion.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing a high-performing procurement team through hiring, coaching, training, and performance management
- Developing and executing sourcing strategies across indirect categories (software, professional services, hardware, capital expenditures, R&D) with focus on cost optimization, scalability, standardization, and supply chain resilience
- Managing end-to-end sourcing processes from requirements gathering through competitive bidding, supplier selection, negotiation, contracting, and renewals
- Partnering with Engineering, IT, Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders to define requirements, forecast spend, evaluate total cost of ownership, and establish clear agreements and statements of work
- Negotiating complex, high-value agreements and building strategic supplier relationships that improve pricing, service quality, and long-term value
- Strengthening procurement operations through standardized processes, supplier performance reviews, KPIs, continuous improvement initiatives, and executive reporting
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, business, or related field; 8+ years of procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management experience with responsibility for indirect categories; 3+ years managing and developing procurement professionals; demonstrated success developing category strategies in growing organizations; experience leading complex negotiations with MSAs, SOWs, and renewals; and strong analytical and financial acumen.
