Halter is a venture-backed agtech company transforming livestock grazing through innovative technology. The company enables farmers and graziers to optimize herd management without traditional infrastructure like fences, quad bikes, or dogs—using autonomous systems to guide cattle movement.
As Process Engineering Manager, you will lead and build the Production Process team, establishing the operating cadence, standards, and culture required to deliver stable, scalable manufacturing outcomes. This is a hands-on leadership role with direct responsibility for team hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing the Production Process engineering team through hiring, coaching, and performance feedback
- Translating production engineering strategy into quarterly priorities and project plans with clear ownership
- Owning process engineering execution across assigned product lines, driving improvements in first-pass yield (FPY), throughput, cycle time, rework reduction, and escape prevention
- Establishing high-performance operating cadence for priorities, project reviews, escalation paths, risk visibility, and documentation
- Setting standards for process validation, readiness evidence, work instructions, training, process controls, and reaction plans
- Driving cross-functional alignment with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Design, Test, and Machine Design teams
- Coaching engineers to solve problems from first principles, use data-backed recommendations, and own outcomes end-to-end
- Making balanced trade-offs between velocity and rigor, escalating only highest-risk decisions
- Building team capability and leverage faster than headcount growth
You should have experience leading manufacturing or process engineering teams in high-velocity production environments, strong ability to set standards and coach engineers, and comfort making velocity-vs-rigor trade-offs with sound judgment. The role requires modeling Halter's leadership principles: talent obsession, demanding yet supportive approach, authenticity, high ownership, decisive action, and dynamic range.
Halter is backed by Tier 1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, and others. The company emphasizes meaningful work, solving hard problems with talented people, continuous learning (with a $1,000 personal growth fund), and a culture designed for high performance.
