Amperesand is building next-generation intelligent, software-defined power infrastructure products to support the energy transition. The company has developed advanced medium-voltage solid-state transformer technology and is now scaling manufacturing to serve global infrastructure customers. With hubs in San Francisco, Reno, and Singapore, Amperesand is addressing the critical gap between surging electricity demand (driven by AI, EVs, and industrial growth) and outdated power infrastructure that hasn't meaningfully evolved in nearly a century.
As a Process Engineer, you will join the Production Engineering team in Reno, taking direct ownership of manufacturing process development, optimization, and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on, floor-facing role with high visibility and impact.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support production operations across shifts, responding to escalations to minimize downtime and yield loss
- Develop, implement, and optimize production processes to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and achieve world-class quality
- Diagnose process failures and defects, drive root-cause corrective actions, and implement sustainable countermeasures
- Monitor and reduce process variation using Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)
- Develop data collection, visualization, and analysis tools to enable data-driven decision-making and predictive insights
- Champion continuous improvement projects focused on yield, capacity, cycle time, scrap reduction, and labor efficiency
- Develop and maintain FMEAs, Control Plans, and Engineering Change Orders
- Create and maintain Manufacturing Instructions, process routings, and rework procedures
- Own process-level metrics, present performance data to stakeholders, and drive structured improvement initiatives
- Maintain comprehensive process documentation and participate in Engineering Change Management
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in process development, data analysis, and continuous improvement, with critical thinking, fast learning, and direct ownership mindset. You will work closely with Quality, Equipment, and Operations teams in a high-paced production environment.
