Honeydew Health is a digital-first dermatology platform enabling patients to access licensed specialists, FDA-approved treatments, and ongoing support in 24 hours versus the industry average of 6 months. The company's mission is to ensure no one suffers from treatable skin disease due to access barriers.
As a Prior Authorization Specialist, you will manage the end-to-end prior authorization process for dermatology medications, including topicals, orals, injectables, and specialty drugs. You'll be the critical link between Honeydew's clinical teams, insurance carriers, and pharmacies, ensuring patients can access prescribed treatments without unnecessary delays.
Day-to-day responsibilities include submitting and tracking prior authorizations, responding to insurance requests for additional clinical documentation, preparing and submitting appeals when denials occur, coordinating with pharmacies and insurers to resolve authorization issues, and supporting patients through financial access pathways including patient assistance programs and manufacturer copay programs. You'll maintain accurate documentation in internal systems and proactively follow up to prevent care delays.
The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of prior authorization experience with demonstrated expertise in biologic prior authorizations and patient assistance program workflows. You must have experience supporting dermatology medications specifically. Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and clear communication with insurance representatives, pharmacies, and clinical teams are essential. You thrive in fast-paced startup environments, manage volume effectively, and find deep satisfaction in removing financial barriers so patients can access treatment.
This fully remote role reports to the Prior Authorization Lead and offers direct, measurable impact on patient outcomes. Benefits include full remote flexibility, $100 monthly tech stipend, free Honeydew membership, direct access to new dermatology treatments, 20% product discount, bi-monthly team gatherings, health insurance with HSA match, 401(k) with employer match, and unlimited flex time off.
