Salary: USD 168,000 - 206,000 / annual
Airbnb is seeking a Principal, Strategic Finance & Analytics to support its fastest-growing incubation businesses: Luxe, Monthly Stays, and Airbnb for Business. This is a highly visible role partnering with senior leaders across each business to accelerate their path to scale.
You will become the subject matter expert on the economics of these businesses—how demand and supply are acquired, what they cost, and what they return. You will bring strategic perspective on where Airbnb should invest more, invest differently, and what needs to be proven before investment. The role requires building analytical foundations that often do not yet exist in these emerging businesses.
Key responsibilities include:
• Investment Decision Support: Build business cases for major investment decisions across the incubation portfolio. Size opportunities, model returns, and frame tradeoffs for senior leadership to determine bet sizing and allocation.
• Performance Management: Own end-to-end performance management including forecasting, OKR setting, and executive reporting. Build scalable frameworks connecting early signals to revenue and long-term value.
• Full Funnel Analytics: Track and analyze full funnel performance across demand and supply for each business. Identify leakage points, root causes, and quantify the value of fixes.
• Unit Economics & Scalability: Establish and pressure-test unit economics for each business. Determine which model components improve with scale and what must be true for these businesses to become material revenue contributors.
• Capital Allocation: Assess investment allocation across incubation businesses relative to potential. Recommend reallocation where returns and readiness diverge from current capital deployment.
• Leadership Presentations: Synthesize complex data into clear narratives and recommendations for senior leadership. Influence cross-functional stakeholders on high-impact investment and operating decisions.
This role thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment where you will roll up your sleeves as a self-starter. You will have a strong commercial mindset, sizing opportunities and translating performance insights into strategic recommendations.
Requirements:
• 10+ years of relevant experience in strategic finance, strategy/management consulting, investment banking, financial planning and analysis, business operations, or private equity
• Advanced SQL proficiency with ability to independently extract, analyze, and synthesize data
• Superb financial modeling skills and extensive quantitative and qualitative financial analysis experience
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to translate data into decisions
• Excellent communication skills with experience presenting to senior leadership
• Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
• High ownership mindset with strong judgment and attention to detail
• Experience evaluating growth strategies, ROI/efficiency returns, and scalability of new business models (preferred)
