As Principal Software Engineer, you will lead the design and architecture of scalable, high-performance Node.js-based SaaS applications. You will own the architecture for all components within an investment segment, with deep expertise across the full stack. Your responsibilities include: • Design and architect scalable, robust, high-performance Node-based applications aligned with business objectives and performance/scalability/reliability requirements • Lead architecture decisions for all components in the investment segment, with focus on one component but expertise across all • Collaborate with Product Managers on product planning and business performance • Translate stakeholder requirements into consumable backlog items for engineering teams • Write clear, detailed technical epics and user stories with acceptance criteria; participate in story grooming • Coordinate with architects on technical decisions and identify business process improvements and automation opportunities • Mentor and guide a team of engineers This role sits at the intersection of software architecture, product strategy, and team leadership. You will work with cutting-edge data infrastructure and AI-powered tools, contributing to products that help organizations make confident decisions with reliable data. REQUIREMENTS: • 8–10+ years of industry experience in data engineering and product management • Expert-level experience with Node.js for backend application development and architecture (required) • Experience with Java is a plus but not required • Bachelor's degree or higher in business or technical field • Track record of designing and developing data products or software products • Expertise with databases, particularly MongoDB Atlas, and developing/consuming REST APIs • Exposure to cloud-native technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, microservices architecture (must-have) • Basic understanding of agile and scrum methodologies (must-have) • Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP, Redis, security domain, Datadog, CodeFresh (advantageous) • Working knowledge of data ETL (preferred) • Strong communication skills across all organizational levels; excellent verbal and written communication • Ability to set and meet time-sensitive goals; handle multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to change AI SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE: • Proficiency with AI-assisted coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Amazon CodeWhisperer) • Experience using AI-powered code review agents • Ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability • Familiarity with LLM APIs or agentic workflows • Comfortable incorporating generative AI tools into daily engineering workflows (debugging, documentation, test generation) PREFERRED SKILLS: • Experience with GitHub spec-driven development • Understanding of constitutions, skills, and agents • Hands-on experience building or architecting agentic workflows and multi-step AI pipelines • Experience with prompt engineering and fine-tuning for developer productivity • Familiarity with AI observability and evaluation frameworks (LangSmith, Weights & Biases) • Exposure to Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) patterns and vector database integrations • Experience leading or mentoring teams in adopting AI tooling and best practices • Knowledge of responsible AI principles—bias detection, model safety, and enterprise governance
