Brightline is a pediatric behavioral health care company seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead product strategy and execution for its Public Sector business. This is one of the most senior individual contributor product management roles at the company.
You will initially focus on BrightLife Kids, Brightline's partnership with California's Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), owning product strategy for new programs and initiatives that strengthen and grow the partnership. As the business expands, you'll lead additional public sector partnerships, building the systems, product capabilities, and go-to-market motion that enable Brightline to deepen existing government partnerships and win new ones.
The public sector environment is complex and non-standard, involving political entities, government agencies, schools, community partners, caregivers, and intricate cost-share and funding structures. You'll operate as a strategic generalist, comfortable working zero-to-one in an ambiguous, still-forming market, deeply integrated with go-to-market and product marketing, and able to independently lead complex initiatives from discovery through delivery.
Key responsibilities include: owning product strategy and execution for BrightLife Kids and expanding public sector partnerships; developing and communicating a public sector product roadmap organized around opportunity profiles (renewal defense, scalability enablers, market share expansion, net-new deal execution); partnering with Clinical, Growth, Marketing, Finance, and Operations teams to translate business challenges into scalable solutions; delivering on state and agency commitments (program requirements, reporting obligations, language access); building foundational product and platform capabilities for new state and grant-funded programs; operating in a client-facing capacity supporting sales and partnership discussions; defining and measuring key metrics (renewal probability, adoption, utilization, throughput); independently leading large, multi-stakeholder initiatives from discovery through delivery; and mentoring other Product Managers.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 6+ years of Product Management experience, including significant experience building healthcare technology products
- Experience operating in complex, multi-stakeholder environments involving institutional, governmental, or public-sector-adjacent buyers (school districts, state agencies, government health programs); comfortable navigating political, institutional, and cost-share dynamics
- Demonstrated ability to operate zero-to-one: driving discovery, synthesizing market and stakeholder needs, and building strategic roadmaps from scratch
- Direct experience partnering with go-to-market, marketing, or sales teams to draft and test pitches, positioning, and value propositions
- Comfortable operating in a product marketing and client-facing capacity, supporting sales or business development conversations and engaging directly with institutional or government partners
- Strong analytical capability, including experience with SQL, product analytics tools, experimentation, and data to inform product strategy and measure business impact
- Proven ability to independently lead large, cross-functional initiatives from strategy through execution, and comfort wearing multiple hats in a fast-moving, scaling business
- Experience in a high-growth startup or scale-up environment
Nice to have: Experience in behavioral health or hybrid digital/physical healthcare; experience with government, education-sector, or grant-funded program contracts (Medicaid/state health agency programs, school-based mental health initiatives).
