Amperity is rebuilding itself as an AI-first company, moving beyond traditional customer data platforms to deploy agentic systems that help brands understand and activate their customer data. The company has already shipped the industry's first identity resolution agent and enterprise Customer Data Agent, and is now focused on making AI trustworthy and grounded in unified customer views.
As Principal Product Builder for AI & Agentic Products, you will own high-impact outcomes end-to-end—not fixed feature sets—and measure success by real shifts in customer adoption, behavior, and business value. You'll engage directly with customers and stakeholders, including C-level executives and technical architects, to shape product direction and inform critical strategic decisions. You'll navigate ambiguous, high-risk challenges across multiple projects simultaneously, empowering your team with clarity while keeping work aligned with broader company strategy.
Your responsibilities include:
- Owning outcomes over features: Define success metrics tied to customer behavior, adoption, and measurable value rather than shipping checklists.
- Making sound judgments: Decide independently when to pursue or deprioritize work, and know when to seek alignment. Identify risks proactively and course-correct as needed.
- Deepening customer connections: Lead high-stakes conversations with executives and technical architects, even during escalations or when requirements are ambiguous. Set the tone for how your team engages customers.
- Crafting clear narratives: Explain what you're building, why customers need it, and how they benefit—internally and externally. Connect individual capabilities to system-level strategy.
- Guiding agentic strategy: Determine the best agentic approach for customer needs (agents, workflows, new interactions). Serve as a thought leader and help shape Amperity's direction as technology evolves.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Build trust with Product, Engineering, Design, and go-to-market teams. Mentor other Product Builders and help them become more effective.
Success is measured by: AI product strategy clarity and differentiation; customer adoption and measurable value; quality of execution (early testing, sound decisions, reliable outcomes); trustworthy AI (evaluation, explainability, privacy, safety, reliability); cross-platform leverage; organizational influence; and market credibility.
Amperity operates on a hybrid model: four in-office days per week in Seattle, with Wednesdays as a designated remote workday.
Requirements:
- Customer obsession: Focus on customer value over novelty. Validate ideas through prototypes and direct feedback before shipping. Support internal teams to ensure real impact.
- Technical fluency: Prototype quickly using AI tools and low-code integrations. Test ideas directly in codebases. Hands-on experience with agentic frameworks, tool use, and context engineering is required. While engineering owns production architecture, you must have direct, hands-on experience building agentic systems yourself.
- Systems thinking: Understand Amperity's end-to-end architecture, data flows, and broader ecosystem. Navigate complex use cases and integrations.
- Thought leadership: Be a customer data expert who understands the value and challenges of brand data. Proactively propose forward-thinking ideas. Build for end users, AI agents using Amperity as infrastructure, and shape context engineering for maximum agent value.
- Collaborative and humble: Build cross-functional trust, seek help when needed, mentor and onboard fellow Product Builders.
- Always learning: Validate beliefs through research and others' input. Adjust when evidence points elsewhere.
- Comfort with ambiguity: Navigate without a fixed playbook. Outcomes and problems shift; you figure it out alongside your team. Comfortable entering customer conversations without every answer.
