CesiumAstro is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to serve as the organization's foremost authority on engineering design. This role defines enterprise engineering strategies, advances technologies, and shapes design architectures across satellite communication systems, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms.
You will work cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, systems, software, manufacturing, integration and test, quality, and program teams to identify and solve technical challenges, operational friction, production yields, and post-delivery anomalies. Key responsibilities include:
- Working with Engineering Leadership to continuously improve company-wide execution and quality of engineering processes
- Defining enterprise engineering strategies, architectures, design methodologies, and technology roadmaps
- Fostering an environment for rapid and agile prototype development
- Guiding and mentoring development teams in detailed design of systems, subsystems, subassemblies, critical parts, and firmware/software
- Establishing organizational standards for design practices
- Removing friction between functional organizations
- Shaping the organization's most critical engineering initiatives and resolving complex engineering challenges across multiple programs
- Evaluating performance, simulation results, qualification testing, and system interactions to strengthen product reliability and mission success
- Approving organizational electrical design methodologies and verification approaches
- Serving as principal advisor for engineering, guiding teams and executive leadership on technical decisions
- Advancing engineering practices by mentoring senior engineers and strengthening technical capability
- Defining enterprise engineering standards, design methodologies, and technical governance
- Championing adoption of advanced engineering practices and continuous improvement initiatives
- Leading transformational initiatives that enhance engineering performance, efficiency, product reliability, manufacturability, and innovation
- Providing post-production and in-orbit customer support
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree with 15–19 years of related experience, or Master's degree with 12–17 years of related experience in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, computer engineering, or a related engineering field
- Organizational expertise in engineering design and fabrication principles
- Extensive experience defining enterprise-level hardware development and fabrication strategies
- Expert understanding of signal integrity, EMI/EMC, hardware integration, qualification testing, system interfaces, multidisciplinary integration, and emerging engineering technologies
- Proven ability to evaluate enterprise design performance, engineering risks, and technical methodologies while defining improvements
- Sound judgment in defining enterprise engineering direction and resolving complex technical challenges
- Proficiency in electronic design automation (EDA), circuit simulation, and analysis tools (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD, LTspice, MATLAB, or equivalent)
- Strong experience in engineering analysis, configuration management, and collaboration tools (e.g., Windchill, Git, Jira, or equivalent)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
