Lambda, a leader in AI cloud infrastructure serving tens of thousands of customers from researchers to enterprises and hyperscalers, is seeking a Principal Data Center Supply Chain Lead to own the multi-year sourcing and category strategy for equipment and construction that delivers datacenter capacity.
In this role, you will own end-to-end procurement and contracting strategy for Lambda's datacenter expansion program. You will partner with Construction, Design, and Development teams from site selection through commissioning and handover, ensuring sourcing strategy aligns with construction schedules. You will own procurement of long-lead datacenter infrastructure equipment including generators, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, busway, chillers, and air handling units, sequencing awards and deliveries to protect the critical path.
You will lead contracting strategy for construction delivery, selecting and negotiating with general contractors, EPCs, design firms, and specialty trades. You will choose the appropriate commercial model (lump sum, GMP, cost-plus, design-build) for each project's risk profile. As Lambda's lead negotiator on highest-value construction and equipment agreements, you will set negotiation strategy, drive internal and external consensus, and partner with Legal on master agreement terms.
You will own the owner-furnished equipment strategy, deciding what Lambda procures directly versus through contractors, and managing logistics, storage, warranty, and installation interfaces. You will drive change order discipline across active projects, assessing claims and schedule impacts against business cases. You will identify systematic cost reduction opportunities through standardization, volume aggregation, early buys, and design-to-cost initiatives.
You will build strategic partnerships with OEMs, contractors, and trade partners to secure capacity and delivery slots in a constrained market, driving innovation and schedule compression. You will negotiate and oversee delivery commitments, milestones, and SLAs, owning compliance end-to-end. You will set procurement and contract execution standards across the construction program, serve as escalation point on pricing and delivery issues, and deliver executive briefings on execution models and risks.
You will partner with stakeholders to identify threats to schedule, cost, and safety, determine mitigation strategies, and drive remediation. You will oversee supplier and contractor performance management through audits, site walks, and business reviews. You will define and execute strategy for industry and ecosystem engagement across the datacenter construction supply base.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of deep, hands-on experience across end-to-end supply chain (planning, sourcing, logistics, fulfillment) and strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management; or 8+ years with a Master's degree
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Data Analytics, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Owned multi-year category strategies for complex, high-spend, supply-constrained areas with material cost and continuity-of-supply impact
- Recognized as a lead negotiator who has personally closed the hardest contracts
- Set process, policy, or governance standards that an organization adopted and driven policy change to mitigate business risk
- 3+ years of informal or indirect team leadership, coaching senior practitioners, and driving consensus across functions you do not own
- Comfortable briefing and persuading executives internally and across the supplier base; able to build business cases that earn decisions
- Fluent with data to anticipate risk, model change-order impact, and defend decisions
- Operate well in ambiguity, on compressed timelines, in supply-constrained markets
- Worked shoulder-to-shoulder with construction teams (general contractors, construction managers, design and engineering firms, specialty trades)
- Led construction contracting and contract administration: selecting delivery models, negotiating GC/EPC and trade agreements, managing change orders, claims, and closeout
- Procured long-lead datacenter or critical-facility infrastructure equipment and sequenced it against live construction schedules
NICE TO HAVE:
- Category management experience with datacenter infrastructure equipment (generators, switchgear, chillers, air handling units)
- Program management experience delivering datacenter capacity at scale
- Experience negotiating master agreements and resolving contract disputes alongside Legal in high-growth companies
- Experience standing up sourcing process, governance, or supplier management practice from scratch
- Experience applying AI and automation tooling to supply chain or procurement workflows
