Pie Insurance is seeking a Premium Audit Operations Specialist I to review and process standard audit worksheets for commercial insurance policies, ensuring compliance with business rules and regulatory guidelines. This role handles routine premium audit adjustments and endorsements within assigned authority limits, working across multiple jurisdictions using classification systems like PAAS and NCCI.
Key responsibilities include reviewing completed audit worksheets from field, phone, mail, and virtual audits; processing audit adjustments and endorsements; identifying correct classifications using state-specific tools; and ensuring proper documentation of state regulations and premium audit standards. The specialist will conduct proactive outreach to insureds and agents via email to deliver audit results before billing occurs, building positive customer relationships while communicating potentially unwelcome news about additional premiums.
The role requires coordinating smooth transitions from audit completion to billing operations, documenting customer agreements and payment arrangements for the billing team, and ensuring proper handoff documentation. The specialist will also contribute to process improvements by providing feedback on evolving procedures, documenting best practices and lessons learned for training materials, and supporting implementation of new technologies.
Required qualifications include minimum 1+ years as a premium auditor or premium audit reviewer with demonstrated Workers' Compensation experience. Preferred knowledge includes NCCI, WCIRB, PCRB/DCRB rules and regulations, and customer service experience in insurance or financial services. Technical competencies needed: understanding of premium audit procedures and regulatory compliance, proficiency with classification systems and state-specific tools, experience with audit software systems and Google Workspace, basic billing and payment processing knowledge, and ability to analyze accounting records and payroll documentation.
Strong organizational skills, confidentiality, excellent verbal and written communication abilities, and proven ability to explain audit concepts clearly are essential. The ideal candidate can manage multiple priorities, build positive relationships, and demonstrate cultural sensitivity in diverse customer interactions.
