Helius is a developer platform on the Solana blockchain that powers applications for major customers including Coinbase, Jupiter, and Phantom. The company has raised $34M from top-tier investors including Haun Ventures, Founders Fund, and Solana co-founders.
As a Platform Engineer on the Infrastructure team, you will own the foundation that everything at Helius depends on. The company deliberately runs its global edge network and high-performance services on bare metal for performance and cost optimization, which means the machines, network, and tooling are built and maintained in-house.
Key responsibilities include:
- Automating the complete server lifecycle: provisioning, OS installation, configuration, hardware validation, and decommissioning
- Building and maintaining tooling that engineers use to interact with the fleet, eliminating manual server configuration
- Standardizing software build and deployment processes: CI pipelines, artifact management, deploy tooling, and rollback procedures
- Executing security roadmap items: SSO-integrated access, jump hosts, secrets management, least-privilege access, and audit trails
- Conducting cost analysis across the fleet, including per-workload costs, provider comparisons, and hardware refresh decisions
- Improving infrastructure observability and participating in on-call and incident response
- Writing clear runbooks and documentation for a remote team
The role emphasizes extreme ownership, treating systems as yours, seeing problems through to resolution, and automating repetitive work. The team values fast, direct, low-ego, and accountable work practices.
No crypto background is required. The company will teach blockchain-specific knowledge to candidates with serious infrastructure experience elsewhere.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years in infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering
- Hands-on bare metal experience: provisioning and managing physical servers (PXE, IPMI/BMC, RAID, NICs), working with colo or dedicated-server providers, debugging hardware vs. software issues
- Deep Linux fundamentals: systemd, networking, storage, performance tuning
- Experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code (Ansible, Terraform, Salt, Nix, or similar)
- Solid scripting or programming ability in Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages
- Security mindset: thinking about access, blast radius, and secrets by default
NICE TO HAVE:
- Rust experience or interest in reading and debugging Rust services
- High-performance networking or low-latency systems experience
- Familiarity with ClickHouse, Prometheus, or Grafana
- Experience at a high-scale B2B infrastructure company
