Nusano is seeking a Plant Engineer to maintain and improve facility infrastructure and utility systems supporting 24/7 radioisotope production operations at its West Valley City facility. This role works alongside Plant MRO leadership to ensure continuous engineering coverage, independent decision-making, and on-call response capabilities across all building and utility systems.
Key responsibilities include operating and maintaining critical facility systems (process cooling water, HVAC, humidification, compressed air, electrical distribution, mechanical systems), executing preventive and corrective maintenance per SOPs and manufacturer specifications, and completing work orders in IBM Maximo with full documentation. You will conduct routine facility inspections, identify unsafe conditions, and respond to emergencies using standard and emergency operating procedures while providing rotating 24/7 on-call coverage.
Troubleshooting and engineering work involves diagnosing facility system faults using structured methods, performing root cause analyses, evaluating system performance, and recommending upgrades to improve reliability and efficiency. You will support capital project execution from scope definition through commissioning and monitor building automation systems to maintain required environmental conditions.
Vendor coordination includes scheduling and overseeing contractor activities, managing service contracts for critical systems, and ordering parts to minimize downtime. Compliance responsibilities encompass OSHA and EPA requirements, local building codes, and Nusano safety standards, with partnership on hazard identification and incident reporting.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering; 3+ years plant/facility/maintenance engineering experience in manufacturing or industrial environments; hands-on troubleshooting with HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and process utility systems; CMMS proficiency; ability to provide rotating 24/7 on-call coverage. Preferred: regulated manufacturing experience (GMP, pharma, semiconductor, nuclear), IBM Maximo expertise, BAS/process cooling water/clean utility systems knowledge, commissioning experience, relevant certifications (CMRP, OSHA 30, PMP, PE license), and high-purity water experience.
