As Permit Operations Lead, you will manage the end-to-end permit application lifecycle for customers across the Midwest, serving as the primary customer point of contact and regional escalation resource. You will oversee permit research, form preparation, documentation gathering, and submissions to relevant authorities. Key responsibilities include tracking permit statuses proactively, engaging with municipal authorities to expedite approvals, generating detailed progress reports, and identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce bottlenecks.
You will also lead and mentor a junior team, providing training, coaching, feedback, and direction while holding regular 1:1s and empowering team members to develop their skills. You'll ensure all permit applications meet jurisdictional compliance standards and work through restrictions that municipalities place on third-party submissions. This role requires deep local knowledge and established relationships with municipal inspectors and authorities, particularly in Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5+ years of relevant experience in construction permitting, project management, or similar role, ideally within a SaaS or tech-driven environment
- Hands-on, working knowledge of the permitting landscape across the Midwest, with priority given to deep familiarity with Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa, and Wisconsin, plus general knowledge of other Midwest states
- Established relationships with municipalities and inspectors in these states; ability to bring local trust and rapport on day one
- Comfortable acting as on-the-ground escalation point when local jurisdictions push back on remote or third-party submissions
- Demonstrated ability to identify and unblock restrictions that municipalities place on third-party permit expediters
- Exceptional project management skills; ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines without sacrificing attention to detail
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work cross-functionally and manage customer relationships
- Preferred: 2+ years of leadership experience managing and mentoring teams, including coaching and performance management
