Re:Build AppliedLogix, part of Re:Build Manufacturing, is seeking an experienced PCB Layout Designer to join their electronics design team. Re:Build is an advanced manufacturing platform partnering with industrial companies and innovators across aerospace and defense, electrification, medical, energy, and robotics sectors.
In this role, you will design complex multi-layer PCBs (6+ layers) from schematic through manufacturing release, with expertise in high-speed, controlled impedance, and power distribution designs. You will own and maintain the Altium component library, including symbols, footprints, 3D models, and component data while establishing best practices for accuracy, consistency, and IPC compliance.
Key responsibilities include conducting design rule checks, signal integrity analysis, DFM reviews, and peer reviews; generating manufacturing documentation and supporting prototype builds and design iterations; partnering with electrical, mechanical, and signal/power integrity engineers on new product development; guiding engineers on component submissions and library usage; and collaborating with client engineering teams as a technical representative.
The position is based in Rochester, NY, with an expectation to work on-site approximately three days per week, with flexibility to work remotely on other days. You will work full-time and contribute to complex electronics projects across multiple advanced industries.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or related field, or equivalent education and experience
- 5+ years of professional PCB layout experience, including high-complexity designs in Altium Designer
- Experience designing multi-layer PCBs (6+ layers) and complex circuit layouts
- Strong Altium library management experience, including component databases, symbols, footprints, and standards
- Knowledge of DFM/DFA, controlled impedance, high-speed signal routing, and EMI/EMC considerations
- Knowledge of relevant IPC standards (IPC-7351, IPC-2221, IPC-2222, IPC-A-600, IPC-6012)
- Experience with component validation, technical QC reviews, and 3D MCAD/STEP integration
- Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- IPC CID or CID+ certification
- Component engineering or formal library administration experience
- Experience training or mentoring engineers
- Knowledge of component lifecycle management and obsolescence tracking
- Python or VBScript knowledge for library automation and quality checks
- Familiarity with additional EDA platforms (Cadence Allegro, OrCAD, Mentor PADS)
- Familiarity with applicable regulatory and industry standards
