Neko Health is a preventative healthcare company using proprietary technology and clinical care to deliver personalized health insights in a single non-invasive visit. The company is expanding from ~100 to 300+ employees and seeking a Payroll Systems Specialist to build and maintain the operational backbone supporting US growth.
In this high-ownership role on a small People team, you will run bi-weekly US payroll end-to-end using ADP Workforce Now across a multi-state footprint, including New York and California. You'll manage Workday transactions including new hire onboarding, employee data changes, offboarding, and ongoing record accuracy to ensure system integrity. A key responsibility is owning knowledge base documentation in SharePoint (migrating to Atomicwork), creating employee-facing guides, internal process documentation, and partner resources for HRBPs and recruiting teams.
You'll support state payroll registrations as Neko expands into new jurisdictions, ensuring compliance and accuracy across all locations. You'll identify process gaps and collaborate to build systems and documentation that close them, enabling the company to scale efficiently. This is a detail-oriented, process-driven role with real visibility into how People infrastructure evolves during critical growth phases.
You bring 6-8 years of payroll and HR generalist operations experience, with hands-on multi-state payroll management (NYC and California required) and ADP Workforce Now proficiency. Workday transaction-level experience (data entry, employee records) is essential. You're detail-oriented, comfortable owning recurring high-stakes processes, and communicate clearly in writing. AI fluency is valued—you'll help design payroll processes that sustain growth. Based in NYC, you'll work in-office two days per week.
