Vensure Employer Solutions, the largest privately held HR technology and service provider in the US, is hiring a Payroll Specialist to support payroll processing for a growing client base. The company serves over 95,000 businesses and processes over $135B in annual payroll.
In this role, you will handle day-to-day payroll processing for scheduled and off-cycle payrolls, including importing and manually entering payroll changes (hours, employee updates, earnings, deductions, tax overrides). You'll calculate payroll, verify accuracy through control totals and manual review, and respond promptly to client inquiries via email, phone, and case management systems. You'll manage an assigned book of business and partner with Payroll Supervisors on special projects.
Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with established schedules, multitasking while maintaining high accuracy, troubleshooting payroll discrepancies, and collaborating with HR, Finance, and Operations teams to resolve issues. You'll also build and maintain relationships with team members and clients, stay current on best practices through training, and complete additional duties as assigned.
The role is computer-intensive, requiring extended periods at a desk reviewing detailed payroll data, frequent use of Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook), and handling confidential employee information. You'll interact regularly with clients and internal teams through email, phone, and virtual platforms in a professional office environment.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (or relevant nontraditional degree, certification, or job training)
- Minimum 1 year customer service experience
- At least 1 year payroll experience preferred (not required)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated ability to learn new applications
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and analytical thinking
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize under tight deadlines
- Ability to handle confidential information and work with diverse teams
