Arketa is building an operating system for modern fitness and wellness, providing studios and wellness entrepreneurs with an all-in-one platform to manage hybrid wellness businesses. The company has raised $15M in Series A funding and is growing rapidly. You will be Arketa's first Payroll Specialist, responsible for building and scaling payroll onboarding and support from the ground floor. This role blends customer onboarding, implementation, and ongoing support—ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems and building processes in a fast-moving environment. Key responsibilities include: **Customer Onboarding:** Guide customers through Arketa Payroll setup, help collect and enter payroll/tax/banking/employee information, support migrations from other payroll providers, and coordinate with payroll partners and internal teams to resolve onboarding issues. **Customer Support:** Answer questions about payroll, taxes, employee setup, deductions, direct deposit, and payroll processing via email, chat, and video. Own issues from initial contact through resolution, escalate complex issues appropriately, and explain payroll concepts in accessible language. **Continuous Improvement:** Identify recurring pain points, recommend improvements, create Help Center articles and documentation, share customer feedback with Product and Engineering, and stay current on product enhancements. Within your first year, you will successfully onboard customers, deliver high-quality support with timely responses, become a trusted payroll resource, identify process improvements, and help build a scalable payroll support function. Required qualifications: 2+ years supporting payroll, HR, accounting, or SaaS customers; knowledge of payroll fundamentals (employee setup, schedules, taxes, deductions, year-end forms); strong customer service and communication skills; excellent attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities; comfort learning new technology. Experience with payroll software (Gusto, Paychex, ADP, Rippling, Homebase, QuickBooks Payroll) is preferred. Bonus: SaaS onboarding experience, small business support background, or familiarity with Intercom/HubSpot. This role is ideal if you're excited about being the first payroll specialist, enjoy hybrid roles blending implementation/onboarding/support, want to build processes, and are mission-driven about wellness accessibility. Not ideal if you prefer established playbooks, slower pace, or purely specialized roles.
