The Payroll Operations Manager, Americas will lead and scale payroll operations across the Americas region. This is a people-leadership role managing an experienced distributed team of payroll individual contributors. You will serve as the technical escalation point for complex US and Canada payroll matters, provide coverage across Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, and emerging Americas markets, and own operational escalations, vendor outcomes, and customer-facing payroll issues.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, coaching, and developing experienced payroll team members through clear goal-setting, feedback, delegation, and performance management
- Acting as technical escalation for complex US and Canada payroll compliance matters
- Owning operational escalations, customer calls, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions
- Managing vendor relationships, SLAs, controls, and accountability
- Building scalable processes, documentation, coverage plans, and operating metrics
- Partnering across Product, Finance, Accounting, Legal, and Lifecycle Operations teams
- Driving automation and elimination of low-value manual work
- Supporting Americas expansion while maintaining payroll accuracy, timeliness, and compliance

REQUIREMENTS:
- Deep US and Canada payroll expertise, including multi-state and provincial compliance
- Practical exposure to Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia payroll operations
- Strong equity-payroll knowledge
- Expertise in payroll controls, reconciliation, risk management, escalation handling, and root-cause analysis
- Proven vendor-management and vendor-accountability experience
- Demonstrated experience leading senior, experienced payroll individual contributors without micromanaging
- Evidence of process improvement with concrete, measurable outcomes
- Remote or distributed people-leadership experience
- Ability to move fluently between technical detail and regional strategy in ambiguous, scaling environments
BONUS EXPERIENCE:
- Deep Latin America payroll experience
- Puerto Rico, Guam, or other US-territory payroll knowledge
- EOR or global employment platform experience
- In-house payroll implementation or vendor-to-in-house migration experience
- Payroll transformation and Product or Technology partnership experience
- Advanced practical use of AI and automation in payroll operations
