Sona is a Series B AI-native frontline workforce management platform serving 100k+ workers globally. The company provides end-to-end solutions for scheduling, HR, payroll, and communications to large frontline organizations.
As Payroll Implementation Manager, you will own the complete customer onboarding journey for Sona's payroll platform. This includes initial discovery conversations, system configuration tailored to each customer's needs, parallel run testing, staff training, and go-live support. You'll work hands-on with the software itself—not just coordinating others—ensuring clean, successful implementations.
Key responsibilities include configuring UK payroll setups (GL, pensions, RTI processing), troubleshooting issues, identifying process improvements, and partnering with Project Managers and Solutions Architects across the implementation team. You'll provide both remote and occasional on-site support for customer training and launches. The role emphasizes attention to detail, end-to-end ownership, and using AI tools confidently in daily work (reconciliation, communications, spreadsheets).
You'll operate in a startup environment with minimal bureaucracy, high-caliber colleagues, and direct influence on how Sona's payroll product and implementation process evolve. Access to the product team is unusual for an implementer role, giving you real leverage to shape the platform.
Required: hands-on experience implementing UK payroll systems end-to-end (not just coordinating), deep knowledge of UK payroll legislation and processing, genuine curiosity and adaptability, high attention to detail, and comfort with AI tools. A CIPP qualification or progress toward one is a bonus.
Compensation: £50,000–£60,000 annually. Hybrid role (2 days/week in London office) with occasional customer site travel. Benefits include 35 days annual leave, matched pension (up to 5%), comprehensive health insurance, enhanced parental leave, professional development budget, and annual team retreats.
