Rho is a modern banking platform for startups and growth-stage companies, offering account opening, card issuance, expense management, bill pay, and financial close in a single connected platform.
As a Payment Operations Associate, you will support Rho's day-to-day payment processing and operations. This is a deadline-driven, detail-oriented role that directly impacts client statements and month-end close processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Process client repayments by running recurring ACH pulls on fixed schedules, handling non-standard accounts manually, and processing interim payments while confirming accuracy from initiation through posting.
- Issue rewards, credits, and incentives by calculating and releasing monthly cashback rewards, reconciling against system figures, and processing statement credits, sign-up bonuses, and promotional incentives with appropriate approvals.
- Maintain credit and card program settings by updating client credit limits, payment terms, statement cycles, and custom pricing across systems while documenting all changes.
- Manage wire and ACH operations, including wire trace requests, recalls, returns, ACH returns and reversals in compliance with NACHA rules and timeframes.
- Support fraud and credit review by expediting settlement on approved transactions, holding transactions for review when needed, managing RDC returns, and setting appropriate settlement delays based on client credit risk.
- Produce weekly past-due reports for Credit Risk, Finance, Client Services, and Fraud; monitor 30-day credit repayment returns and overdue balances daily; escalate for client outreach.
- Route compliance, fraud, and legal escalations by flagging sanctions inquiries, forwarding legal notices, coordinating indemnity requests, and requesting limit increases when thresholds are reached.
- Support the Letter of Credit program by coordinating Standby Letters of Credit, funding collateral accounts, processing fees, and providing figures for month-end statements.
- Identify process improvements by spotting manual steps worth automating, keeping documentation current, and partnering with Product and Engineering to close payment workflow gaps.
Requirements:
- 2+ years in payment operations, banking operations, treasury operations, or similar function at a fintech, bank, or payment processor
- Working knowledge of payment rails (ACH, Fedwire, RTP, card networks, remote deposit) and payment failure/return/settlement scenarios
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to reconcile before releasing
- Comfort with recurring hard deadlines and high transaction volume without sacrificing accuracy
- Hands-on experience with operational tooling: ticketing systems (Jira), BI dashboards (Looker), spreadsheets, and bank portals; SQL is a plus
- Clear written communication skills for cross-functional coordination with Credit Risk, Client Services, Fraud, and Compliance
- Sound judgment on escalation decisions
