Check is an embedded payroll infrastructure platform that enables payroll businesses to launch, grow, and thrive. The Partner Support Specialist role sits at the intersection of payroll expertise and technical product knowledge, supporting the platforms and partners that build payroll products on Check's infrastructure. In this role, you will manage a high volume of partner requests through written communication, balancing responsiveness with thorough investigation while independently driving complex issues toward resolution and meeting SLAs. You'll investigate complex payroll and tax problems by breaking them into manageable pieces, tracing root causes across systems, and owning resolution with accuracy and curiosity. You'll collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, Tax, Risk, and other teams to troubleshoot issues, escalate bugs, and drive solutions that unblock partners quickly. A key responsibility is proactively identifying recurring partner questions, operational friction points, and product trends, then surfacing insights that improve documentation, workflows, and product behavior. You'll create and maintain documentation and operational resources that help the full team work more efficiently. Relationship-building is central to the role. You'll develop trusted partnerships with both experienced payroll professionals and teams new to the industry, bringing empathy, ownership, and transparency to every interaction. You'll own relationships with some of Check's largest and most strategic enterprise partners, serving as a trusted resource through complex scenarios and ongoing operational support. You'll exercise strong judgment about when and how to engage cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring they have the context needed to quickly understand and resolve complex problems. Ideal candidates have 4+ years in client- or partner-facing roles supporting customers, partners, or technical products, plus 2+ years at a payroll provider, payroll platform, HR tech company, or fintech company. You should have experience balancing multiple priorities in fast-paced support environments, strong investigative instincts, exceptional attention to detail, and excellent written communication skills. Experience with ticketing systems (Zendesk preferred), creating internal documentation and SOPs, and supporting enterprise accounts is valued.
