Stellic is a fast-growing edtech startup serving over 100 universities and 1 million students across 7 countries. The company's platform transforms the student experience by helping students navigate degree planning, track their academic journey, and build personalized education and career paths.
As Platform Data Architect, you will own the complete data integration lifecycle for a named set of university partners. Your responsibilities include:
- Owning integrations for assigned universities from initial data discovery conversations through signed-off production feeds, and maintaining them post-launch
- Leading new partner deployments end-to-end: source discovery (onsite or remote), writing extraction queries, standing up data feeds, validating output, and obtaining registrar sign-off
- Managing upgrades and migrations for existing live partners as new platform features ship
- Translating institutional policy and operations into accurate data extracts, catching mismatches before they reach students
- Defining observability and logging standards so Product Delivery Leads can diagnose feed issues independently
- Establishing standardized integration patterns and documentation to reduce deployment cost and complexity for each successive university
You will work closely with registrars, database administrators, and product delivery teams. The role requires deep understanding of how student information systems work in practice—you know that business rules like "we freeze terms in March" cascade through downstream data models, and you catch those dependencies early in conversations rather than at go-live.
The ideal candidate has spent years working hands-on with student information systems, either inside universities or building integrations against them. You write your own SQL, understand relational database schemas and data types, and design extracts that remain correct across multiple academic terms and scale to hundreds of institutions. You document your work thoroughly because you understand the cost of inherited undocumented systems. When you see the same problem twice, you standardize the solution rather than fixing it repeatedly.
Travel to partner sites is required a handful of times per year.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years hands-on experience with student information systems (university-based or integration-focused)
- Deep expertise in two or more SIS platforms, with PeopleSoft as one of them (Banner, Colleague, Workday, Jenzabar, Power Campus, or homegrown systems acceptable as the second)
- Proficiency in SQL and RDBMS; ability to write queries, understand schemas, and debug independently
- Data modeling expertise with experience building scheduled extracts and feeds that must remain correct over time
- Ability to quickly learn new, unfamiliar SIS/ERP implementations
- Credibility communicating with both registrars and database administrators
- Excellent written documentation skills
- Willingness to travel for partner onsites several times per year
