Salary: USD 70,000 - 90,000 / annual
Via is a transportation technology platform that powers modern public transit networks globally. As Operations Manager for Autonomous Vehicle Projects, you will lead daily operations of Via's growing portfolio of autonomous and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) fleets, ensuring safe, reliable, and fully accessible transportation for the communities served.
You will manage onsite operations at local services (several days per week, with monthly travel across US markets), making real-time decisions about fleet availability, WAV compliance, and rider accessibility. Key responsibilities include:
- Running daily onsite operations to ensure smooth fleet performance and service reliability
- Making informed, real-time decisions on fleet availability, accessibility needs, and operational issues
- Converting rider and community feedback into tangible operational improvements, addressing accessibility friction points
- Analyzing ridership trends, service performance, and fleet utilization using data and technology to maximize efficiency
- Serving as the operational bridge between local partners, safety drivers, third-party operators, and Via central teams
- Acting as primary operational contact for Via's AV partners and local operators, maintaining proactive communication
- Leading driver onboarding and specialized WAV safety/securement training in key markets
- Building relationships with local disability advocate groups and transit partners
This is a high-ownership, field-based role requiring presence onsite at local services several days per week and monthly travel to services across the United States. You will be based in the NYC area.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Operationally experienced with background in people management, logistics, customer service, or process-oriented work
- Experience with paratransit, Non-emergency Medical Transport, or WAV fleets strongly preferred
- Relationship-oriented with ability to earn trust from riders, accessibility advocates, teammates, and external partners through empathetic communication and follow-through
- Hands-on and proactive, eager to understand the end-to-end WAV rider journey and solve mobility challenges in the field
- Capable of triaging live operational issues while building long-term processes for service quality and accessibility compliance
- Mission-driven, motivated by expanding equitable transit access
- Based in NYC area, able to be onsite and in-office when needed
