Salary: USD 65,000 - 90,000 / annual
Via is a transportation technology platform that powers modern public transit networks globally. As Operations Manager, you'll lead daily on-site operations for a transit service, ensuring safe, reliable, and accessible transportation for riders across the community.
You'll own real-time operational decisions around fleet management, driver supply, compliance, and service quality. This is a hands-on, field-focused role where you'll spend significant time with drivers and riders, building relationships and solving problems as they occur. Key responsibilities include managing driver teams, translating rider and community feedback into operational improvements, leveraging data to diagnose performance issues, and serving as the operational bridge between city partners, drivers, and Via's central teams.
The role requires deep expertise in fixed-route transit operations, including time-point adherence, breakdown escalation, and run scheduling for large-scale services. You'll manage professional CDL drivers operating Class A/B vehicles (35–45-foot coach buses), maintaining a culture of safety and DOT/FMCSA compliance while keeping morale high in a fast-paced, scheduled environment. You're tactical and strategic—solving immediate issues while thinking long-term about systemic improvements.
This is a fully in-person position requiring 4–5 days per week on-site in the Montgomery area. You're mission-driven, operationally experienced (background in people management, logistics, customer service, or process work), relationship-oriented, and comfortable in the field learning the service firsthand.
