Vinyl Equity is seeking an Operations Lead to build and scale their India operations team from the ground up, managing a U.S. stock transfer agency with live share register responsibilities. This is a player-coach role combining hands-on execution with team leadership and strategic scaling.
You will recruit, train, and manage the India Operations team while defining roles, onboarding processes, and coverage across IST and U.S. Eastern Time zones. Core responsibilities include owning service quality end-to-end (SLAs, maker-checker controls, error tracking), managing the SOP library, and driving automation initiatives with U.S. operations, compliance, and engineering teams.
Day-to-day operations span DTC activities (pending-transfer reviews, DWAC/DRS processing, FAST/SCL balancing), processing issuances and treasury orders under maker-checker controls, and handling routine, estate, broker, and certificate-to-DRS transfers with document and medallion verification. You will own KYC/KYB review and OFAC/adverse-media screening with immediate escalation protocols.
Additional responsibilities include shareholder and issuer support (account inquiries, lost-holder cases, certificate replacements), recurring SEC compliance reporting (Rules 17Ad-2/17Ad-6/17Ad-17, DTCC CBRS, escheatment), leading proxy season and corporate actions execution, and managing new-issuer onboarding including appointment packages and legacy record ingestion.
Required qualifications: 10+ years in securities or transfer agency operations (global transfer agent, Indian RTA, asset manager, or bank securities-services center); proven experience building and leading operations teams from scratch; bachelor's degree in commerce, finance, accounting, or related field; strong data skills (Excel/Sheets, unfamiliar file formats, basic scripting a plus); expert-level proficiency with Claude or equivalent AI assistant; meticulous attention to detail; clear written English; reliability against hard cutoffs on U.S. Eastern Time; and high integrity handling PII and material non-public information.
Nice-to-haves include exposure to DTC/DTCC systems, experience with record conversions/deconversions or legacy data migration, familiarity with Rule 144, medallion guarantees, escheatment, KYC/KYB, AML, or proxy logistics, and experience running U.S. or cross-border operations from India against U.S.-hours SLAs.
The role offers competitive compensation, equity participation, comprehensive health insurance, paid leave, wellness benefits, and a true zero-to-one leadership mandate backed by the U.S. leadership team in a modern operations environment with purpose-built tooling and AI assistance.
