Aurora is seeking an Operations Lead for its Centralized Autonomous Vehicle Command Center in Coppell, Texas. This role leads a multidisciplinary team of Command Center operators and leads responsible for monitoring and guiding autonomous vehicle performance across multiple locations and shifts. The Operations Lead serves as a critical bridge between Aurora's autonomy development teams, dispatch operations, and vehicle operations, ensuring safe and efficient commercial scaling.
Key responsibilities include leading and developing a geographically dispersed team across multiple locations and shift patterns, overseeing lane monitoring, Level 2 triage, commercial optimization, and incident response protocols. The role requires balancing company objectives with operational risk management in dynamic, high-stakes environments. You will design and direct shift briefings to communicate software updates and operational changes, track KPIs for business reviews, and act as the primary point of contact for Command Center-related Aurora initiatives.
The Operations Lead must develop standard work processes, drive continuous improvement, and foster a culture of ownership and safety. This includes staffing and workforce planning for a 24/7 operation, managing cross-functional collaboration with developers and dispatch teams, and serving as an ambassador for Aurora to the public.
Required qualifications include 2+ years of people leadership with a focus on growth and development, experience staffing and planning in 24/7 dynamic environments, and deep understanding of Command Center functions (remote assistance, dispatch, mission control, triage, quality audits). Candidates must demonstrate exceptional critical thinking, incident management proficiency, and high-risk operational experience. Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations as they apply to remote fleet operations is essential. The role requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, extended hours, and weekends as needed.
Desirable qualifications include a college degree or advanced certificate in engineering or technical fields, experience in Agile/Scrum environments, and ability to lead operations independently with minimal supervision.
