Nimble is an AI robotics company building autonomous supply chain infrastructure, having raised over $220M at a $1B+ valuation with a strategic FedEx partnership. The company is developing generalist robot AGI to power autonomous warehouses and fulfillment networks.
As an Operations Engineer on Nimble Brain, you'll be the technical backbone connecting operations and engineering at data collection sites. Your role bridges the gap between floor-level technicians and the engineering teams building robot training systems. You'll diagnose and resolve issues across rigs, teleoperation systems, and capture infrastructure that site technicians cannot handle independently.
Key responsibilities include: acting as first-line technical support for complex robotics and software systems across collection sites; industrializing engineering workflows into operator-facing tools, interfaces, and automations that enable non-engineers to execute setup, calibration, and diagnostics reliably; building observability systems to track rig health, calibration drift, and capture pipeline status with proactive alerting; routing technical issues appropriately—either fixing them yourself or specifying well-defined requests to engineering teams; translating engineering changes into documentation, SOPs, and training that sites can absorb without operational disruption; partnering with site technicians on systems-level diagnosis and tooling while they handle routine maintenance; using data-driven prioritization to address failures and workflow friction that impact robot training; supporting site ramps and new facility bring-ups; and maintaining documentation and runbooks collaboratively so sites increasingly self-serve.
The role is roughly split between immediate triage and longer-term engineering—knowing which approach each issue demands. Sometimes the answer is a quick workaround to keep a shift collecting data; sometimes it's building a permanent tool or procedure; often it's both. You'll stabilize immediate problems, industrialize solutions that earn it, route larger issues to appropriate teams, and build observability that prevents tomorrow's issues from becoming today's crises.
Required: 0–5 years in production environments supporting complex robotics or hardware/software systems, OR 2+ years experience plus a BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Robotics. Strong technical curiosity, debugging skills, ability to read technical logs and interpret data. Preferred: experience with robotics, hardware integration, production support, or observability/monitoring systems.
