Plantible Foods is a venture-backed biology company focused on unlocking sustainable plant-based solutions for the food industry. Backed by Astanor Ventures, Lerer Hippeau, Piva Capital, Kellogg's, and Vectr Ventures, the company is developing innovative protein extraction processes and scaling them from R&D to commercial production.
You will be based on-site at the production facility in Eldorado, TX, working as an Operations Engineer who bridges R&D and manufacturing. This is a hands-on role combining analytical rigor with practical plant-floor experience. You'll operate downstream processing equipment daily, troubleshoot real-world production deviations, and support the commercialization team with inventory management and customer shipment readiness.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating downstream processing equipment to support pilot plant and production activities, especially during initial ramp-up
- Troubleshooting production deviations and collaborating with engineering and operations teams to develop durable solutions
- Identifying, designing, and supporting implementation of process improvements in collaboration with operations, commercialization, maintenance, and controls teams
- Translating R&D findings into robust, scalable manufacturing processes through operator-usable tools like SOPs and documentation
- Creating a deviation-aware operating system with clear instructions for non-standard scenarios
- Contributing to a data-driven, continuous improvement mindset across the plant
- Preparing to transition trial-scale testing to the 24/7 operations team as the business scales
You will gain firsthand exposure to taking the byproduct of the innovative protein extraction process and creating a nutritious food product, with opportunities to influence automation and scale-up roadmaps.
**Requirements:**
- B.S. or M.S. in Process, Chemical, Mechanical, or Bioprocess Engineering (or related discipline)
- 0–3 years of hands-on experience in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or ingredient manufacturing; new graduates welcome
- Strong problem-solving, communication, organization, and data-analysis skills; comfortable bridging R&D and plant operations
- Proactive, "get-it-done" attitude with flexibility to work on-site as projects demand
- Understanding of sanitary design, food safety (HACCP, FSMA), and equipment standards (USDA, FDA)
- Desire to contribute to sustainable impact
