xAI is seeking an Operations Analyst for its power generation operations team in the Memphis/Southaven area. This role supports the site director by transforming plant data into actionable operational insights and decisions.
You will own analytics and reporting across generation performance, fuel efficiency, demand forecasting, maintenance planning, and environmental compliance. The position is hands-on and collaborative, requiring you to work across operations, maintenance, engineering, and environmental teams to identify systematic gaps and drive continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Creating and integrating AI tools to support analytics, execution planning, and issue detection via AI agents
- Developing visual standards for work boards, JIRA queuing, Power BI dashboards, and plant operations workflows
- Defining and developing plant-level metrics and dashboards (gas vs MW, hall demand vs generation, maintenance forecasts, air permit hours)
- Conducting in-depth SQL-based analyses to identify trends and support decision-making
- Creating reports, tools, and standardized metrics for operational measurements and improvements
- Supporting the site director with data insights for outage planning and continuous improvement
- Conducting operations audits to streamline plant operations, maintenance, and reliability work
- Developing automation to mitigate operational risk and create efficiencies
- Supporting continuous improvement projects including process rollouts and standardization
- Enhancing maintenance programs by prioritizing poor-health equipment and descoping unnecessary work
The role reports directly to the site director and serves as a resource across plant operations. xAI operates with a flat organizational structure where all employees are expected to be hands-on, show initiative, and deliver excellence. Strong communication and prioritization skills are essential.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of experience in operations analysis, business analytics, or related field
- Proficiency in SQL for data querying and analysis
- Experience creating and managing dashboards using Power BI or similar data visualization tools
- Familiarity with power plant or industrial operations metrics (heat rate, gas vs MW, generation vs demand, maintenance forecasting, environmental/air-permit tracking)
- Experience with lean, six sigma, and related operations principles
- Ability to work effectively across teams and skill sets to find simple, effective solutions
- Experience as a contributor to multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams
