Crusoe is a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company building the energy and compute foundation for the world's most ambitious AI workloads. As Senior Director of Analytics & Data Science, you will lead a newly formed centralized team of analysts and data scientists embedded across business units spanning cloud, customer experience, construction, power, and manufacturing. You will report into the CFO/COO organization and own the analytical foundation that drives company-wide decision-making. Your mandate includes defining the team's operating model, hiring and developing talent, establishing standards for analytical rigor, and partnering closely with the Data team (which maintains the data platform and source system ingestion). Key responsibilities: - Stand up the central analytics team from the ground up, designing staffing models and work prioritization across domains - Recruit and develop analysts and data scientists, building career paths and retention models - Set standards for statistical rigor, experimental design, forecasting, and uncertainty communication - Own certified data marts, metric definitions, and business-rule testing to ensure consistency across the company - Own executive and board reporting, including cross-business unit analysis - Build predictive and statistical capabilities in high-impact areas: power utilization, capacity/demand forecasting, cost forecasting, fleet reliability, and product experimentation - Drive high-stakes decision support for the company's most complex, cross-functional questions - Create conditions for self-service analytics on top of governed data models - Maintain close proximity to the business through embedded analysts and aligned priorities - Partner with the Data team on the data foundation and business definitions The role is heavily foundational in the near term—building data models and metric definitions that rigorous analysis depends on. As that foundation matures, the team will expand into forecasting, experimentation, and predictive work. Tech stack: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Google Cloud Storage (GCS), BigQuery, Apache Airflow, dbt, Sigma, and Grafana. REQUIREMENTS: - 15+ years in analytics or data science, with 5+ years leading teams that include both data scientists and analysts/analytics engineers - Fluency with SQL and Python; strong data modeling instincts; hands-on experience with dbt or equivalent - Direct experience applying forecasting, experimental design, and statistical inference to business problems, including ownership of models in production - Experience with modern data stack (BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, or equivalents) - Experience defining and certifying metrics, testing business rules, resolving entities across systems, and maintaining metric definitions under stakeholder pressure - Comfort with P&L mechanics, unit economics, capital projects, and returns analysis - Executive communication credibility; ability to defend numbers, explain methods to non-technical audiences, and navigate disagreement professionally - Proven ability to operate in dotted-line structures with competing priorities and optimize for the whole company - Track record of ownership and proactive problem-finding - Energized by building from scratch with incomplete data and non-existent processes BONUS: - Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in quantitative field (Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science) or equivalent - Experience in capital-intensive or operationally complex industries (energy, construction, manufacturing, supply chain, data center development) - Familiarity with cloud/infrastructure business models (ARR, utilization, capacity planning) - Hands-on use of AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) - Experience applying forecasting/optimization to physical operations - Hypergrowth company experience - Experience enabling LLM/MCP-based self-service analytics
