The Landline Company is revolutionizing air travel by creating multimodal connections between regional communities and major airline hubs through partnerships with carriers like American and Air Canada. The company operates luxury motorcoaches as a faster, more sustainable alternative to short flights, addressing pilot shortages and reducing costs while enhancing passenger journeys. They've launched innovative remote terminal checkpoints to extend major metro airport reach into local neighborhoods.
As Operations Analyst / Industrial Engineer, you'll own the systems and processes that keep the multimodal network running smoothly. You'll design schedules connecting passengers between motorcoaches and airline partners, plan operations across growing station networks, and continuously refine processes to drive productivity and reliability. This is an internal-consultant role where you'll build relationships across operations groups, identify pain points, and develop technical solutions.
Key responsibilities include: designing and maintaining schedules across the motorcoach and multimodal network while balancing passenger connections, crew utilization, and costs; leading operations planning as the company scales into new markets; analyzing operational performance data to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies; designing and documenting scalable processes and standard operating procedures; developing metrics, dashboards, and reporting for productivity, on-time performance, and asset utilization; supporting capacity planning and resource allocation; and acting as an internal consultant to station teams, dispatch, and leadership.
You'll need 2–5 years of experience in transportation operations, logistics, aviation, fleet operations, or operations-focused consulting. A degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain, or related field is preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience. Strong data and analytical skills are essential (Excel required; SQL, Python, or BI tools like Tableau/Power BI a plus). You should be comfortable using AI tools like Claude Code, have excellent communication skills, and thrive in a fast-moving startup environment. Familiarity with fleet-management platforms like Fleetio or Samsara is a strong plus. Six Sigma certification is a nice-to-have. The role is remote with occasional travel to station locations in the USA and Canada, targeting residents of New York and Toronto. Standard business hours Monday–Friday (CST, EST).
