Griffin is a fully regulated UK bank founded in 2024 that powers accounts and payments for product-led fintechs and platforms including Uber, Yonder, Prosper, and Sidekick. The company has grown rapidly and now provides banking infrastructure across remittance, payroll, wealth, insurance, proptech, payments, neobanking, and more, with plans to expand into card issuing, stablecoin infrastructure, and agentic finance.
You will join the Operational Controls team within the Service guild, working across all operations functions. This team is responsible for keeping Griffin compliant and maintaining visibility of operational risk as the company scales. You will become the person who can confidently assess whether Griffin's operations are functioning as intended.
In this role, you will build and run the first-line controls programme from the ground up, working with deeply technical specialists and senior stakeholders. As Griffin scales, the control framework must scale with it, and you will be central to that transformation, turning quality controls and assurance into a genuine source of confidence for the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting quality assurance reviews and quality control testing across operations to ensure processes are executed accurately and in line with approved procedures
- Performing sample-based testing and control checks to identify errors, control gaps, exceptions, and operational risks
- Developing and managing corrective action and remediation plans with operations teams
- Owning the Service guild controls attestation framework and supporting risk owners in first-line RCSA exercises
- Building QA/QC testing frameworks, control checklists, sampling methodologies, and quality standards
- Producing regular QA/QC reporting and management information for Griffin-wide operational risk reporting
- Coordinating internal audit, external audit, compliance, risk, and regulatory reviews, providing evidence of controls and remediation
In your first year, you will build meaningful relationships across Griffin, from operations teams to second-line risk and compliance. You will establish controls capabilities from scratch, take full ownership of the RCSA process for the Service guild, and develop the QA/QC testing frameworks and management information that help leadership understand where controls are strong and where they need attention.
Griffin is remote-first since its establishment in 2017. Work is asynchronous and fully flexible. The company has a small London office in Moorgate for those who want it, but there is no expectation to be there. The company values smart, motivated, conscientious people who thrive in high-trust, high-autonomy environments and do not require much hand-holding.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong experience in Operations QA/QC, control testing, transaction testing, or operational risk management within a bank or financial institution
- Experience reviewing operational processes and identifying errors, exceptions, control weaknesses, and process gaps
- Experience making recommendations to strengthen controls
- Strong analytical and MI/data analysis skills, with experience producing QA/QC reports, dashboards, and trend analysis
- Ability to challenge Operations constructively and operate with an independent control mindset
- Strong writing skills; the role involves significant written documentation with emphasis on clarity and readability
