Saronic Technologies, founded in 2022 and headquartered in Austin, is developing autonomous surface vessels for maritime defense. The NPI Quality Engineer – Mechanical will drive quality planning and execution throughout the new product introduction lifecycle, ensuring compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and defense/aerospace standards.
Key responsibilities include leading quality activities from design through production, developing and maintaining quality plans aligned with program milestones, and participating in design reviews, gate reviews, first article builds, and readiness assessments. The role requires leading or participating in Design FMEA and Process FMEA activities, identifying critical risks related to product performance, manufacturing processes, supplier capability, and regulatory requirements, then driving risk mitigation actions to closure.
You will define and execute product and process validation activities, establish First Article Inspection requirements, and verify that all critical characteristics are adequately controlled. Collaboration with Supplier Quality is essential to flow down requirements, ensure supplier inspection aligns with internal standards, and support supplier qualification. The role also involves supporting Material Review Board activities, driving root cause analysis using structured methods, and feeding lessons learned back into development programs.
Documentation responsibilities include developing and maintaining DFMEA/PFMEA, control plans, inspection plans, and quality procedures within the QMS system, plus supporting internal and external audits.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; 3+ years in automotive, aerospace, defense, robotics, or complex electromechanical systems; strong knowledge of PFMEA/DFMEA, control plans, inspection planning & metrology, root cause analysis methodologies; experience with AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar QMS standards; ability to read engineering drawings and interpret GD&T.
Preferred: involvement in both small and large-scale NPI/product lifecycle activities, familiarity with ASME Codes and Standards, experience in integration/production environments, hands-on MRB and nonconformance systems experience.
