Anthropic is building AI compute infrastructure at unprecedented scale and pace. This role owns the New Product Introduction (NPI) program for critical power and cooling equipment—battery energy storage systems (BESS), grid-forming inverters, solid-state transformers, E-STATCOM devices, medium-voltage switchgear, UPS systems, and liquid-cooling solutions—much of which is new to market, new to suppliers, or being manufactured at volumes never shipped before.
You will drive the complete path from supplier design through qualification, manufacturability, and reliable production deployment. This is a hands-on role requiring time on supplier factory floors, in test labs, and at site commissioning.
Key responsibilities include: owning NPI program gates and schedules (EVT, DVT, PVT, FAT, SAT); translating site requirements into supplier specifications and negotiating trade-offs; leading design-for-manufacturability and design-for-test reviews; planning and executing prototype and pilot builds with comprehensive test plans (type testing, HALT/HASS, thermal, EMC, protection coordination); defining and executing first-article inspection and factory/site acceptance testing; qualifying products for production deployment; transferring qualified designs to Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams; running FMEA/DFMEA and reliability programs; coordinating cross-functionally with design, construction, commissioning, utilities, safety, and sourcing; and tracking supplier readiness with clear metrics and escalation discipline.
You will need 8+ years of engineering experience in power electronics, electrical equipment, or industrial energy systems, with at least 4 years in NPI, product development, or product engineering roles owning products from prototype through production ramp. Direct hands-on experience with at least two of: BESS, utility/data-center inverters, medium-voltage transformers/switchgear, UPS, STATCOM/power-quality equipment, or liquid cooling systems is required. Working knowledge of relevant standards (UL 9540/9540A, UL 1741, IEEE 1547, IEEE 2800, IEC 62477/62909, IEEE C37/C57, NFPA 70/855, UL 1778) is essential. You must have experience defining and executing structured qualification programs and closing failures with disciplined root cause analysis and CAPA. Familiarity with supplier factory environments and ability to assess real production readiness is critical. Strong systems thinking, design-for-manufacturing fluency, and supplier change-control process knowledge are expected.
