Beacon Biosignals is transforming precision medicine for the brain through at-home EEG platforms and AI/ML-powered diagnostics for neurological, psychiatric, and sleep disorders. The company serves both Life Sciences partners (clinical development) and a Diagnostics business (precision diagnostics and reimbursable assessments).
You will serve as a scientific partner to Beacon's pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers, embedded in active client engagements. Your primary responsibilities include:
- Design and execute analyses on clinical trial and real-world EEG data, applying statistical, computational, and neuroscientific expertise to extract meaningful, decision-relevant insights.
- Lead and support the scientific and technical aspects of multiple concurrent studies, including timeline estimation, task delegation, execution, and stakeholder communication.
- Engage directly with external stakeholders (customer scientists, clinicians, program leaders) to align their needs with Beacon's internal capabilities and capacities.
- Deliver clear, impactful presentations and data visualizations to varied audiences (internal and external).
- Write and review reusable, documented code that produces high-quality analytical results for partners.
- Contribute to statistical analysis plans for clinical trials in collaboration with internal experts and external stakeholders.
- Co-author scientific reports that advance the field.
- Dig into large, messy, unfamiliar datasets; document their idiosyncrasies and provenance; harmonize them with Beacon's Datastore.
- Act as a critical bridge between customers and Beacon's internal teams, shaping analytical approaches and influencing product and model development based on customer feedback.
Beacon emphasizes asynchronous work practices and has office hubs in Boston, New York City, and Paris. Candidates based in the Boston area are preferred to maximize timezone overlap and facilitate in-person client engagement.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Multiple years of experience using neuroscience and statistics expertise to analyze data, draw insights, and answer scientific questions for stakeholders.
- Substantial experience presenting analyses to external audiences of varied backgrounds; demonstrated ability to create understandable and impactful presentations.
- Thrive in fast-paced, highly customer-facing environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and listening skills.
- Experience writing and reviewing code in a shared, version-controlled codebase with multiple contributors.
- Thoughtful approach to data curation as a prerequisite to robust analysis results.
- Familiarity with statistical modeling, including interpretation and diagnostics.
- Comfort with asynchronous hybrid work environments and demonstrated success working remotely.
- Familiarity with or excitement to work with Julia, AWS, Superset, Pandoc, SQL, and GraphQL.
- Exceptional attention to detail and high standards of quality, balanced with pragmatism about when "quick and dirty" approaches are appropriate.
- Strong teamwork orientation, valuing close collaboration, open communication, and tight feedback loops.
