Wealthfront's Mortgage Operations team is modernizing the lending experience through automation and systems thinking. This Senior Loan Closer/Funder role is a critical operational position responsible for the final stages of mortgage origination—closing, funding, and post-closing processes.
You will serve as the final operational checkpoint for loan documents and funding, managing complex disbursements while ensuring strict adherence to internal financial controls and regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include:
• Managing the closing workflow end-to-end: package generation, fee reconciliation, TRID timeline compliance, and coordination with title companies and escrow agents
• Preparing and reviewing Closing Disclosures, loan documents, and escrow instructions for compliance with federal, state, and investor guidelines
• Executing the full funding process: wire requests, funding reviews, and authorization
• Acting as subject matter expert on loan documentation, compliance, and funding for complex transactions
• Leveraging knowledge of investor purchase conditions and post-closing QC findings to guide the team and implement preventative measures
• Supporting post-closing functions including investor condition clearing, trailing document follow-up, and purchase suspense resolution
• Collaborating across processing, origination, post-closing, compliance, and legal teams to ensure regulatory adherence
• Partnering with engineering and vendor implementation teams on closing and funding system projects—requirements definition, configuration validation, UAT, and post-release issue triage
• Serving as first-point triage for escalations involving title, escrow, compliance, funding, and investor conditions
• Maintaining loan pipeline and prioritizing workload to meet critical deadlines across high-volume activity with high accuracy
The role emphasizes systems thinking, critical problem-solving, and identifying automation opportunities. You'll work in an integrated, cross-functional team with end-to-end fluency across the origination lifecycle—no traditional silos. The team values intellectually curious people who think carefully about how tools should work and understand the "why" behind each process step.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 4+ years mortgage loan closing and funding experience in a Senior or Team Leader capacity, including hands-on post-closing exposure (investor conditions, trailing documents, purchase suspense resolution)
• Experience in a broker or correspondent environment (preferred)
• Experience preparing wire orders and conducting funding authorization reviews
• Proficiency in LOS systems, document preparation software, and closing platforms
• Proficiency reading and interpreting XML and MISMO files
• Working knowledge of take-out investor delivery and purchase requirements, and warehouse line funding workflows

• Advanced working knowledge of federal and state regulations including TRID and state-level disclosure requirements
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• Self-driven with ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines in fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal and external partners
• Intellectually curious and interested in applying technology to enhance business processes
