Saronic Technologies is seeking a Mission Operations Operator to lead field operations and mission planning for its Medium Unmanned Surface Vessel (MUSV) platform—a family of autonomous surface vessels designed for maritime defense, ISR, and electronic warfare missions across open-ocean, littoral, and contested waters.
In this role, you will be among the first operators to work with Saronic's growing MUSV fleet. You'll plan and execute end-to-end autonomous vessel missions in GPS-denied and communications-degraded environments, serving as the primary operator during field trials with real-time oversight and go/no-go decision authority. You'll operate Saronic's proprietary Echelon mission planning interface and Advanced Mission Planner (AMP) to build complex autonomous behaviors including loiter-and-avoid, counter-boarding, autodocking, and conditional mission logic. You'll develop and maintain standard operating procedures, mission playbooks, and contingency protocols covering remote scuttle, emergency response, and port coordination.
A critical part of this role is training and qualifying military personnel on MUSV operations globally—both remote control and direct line-of-sight modes. You'll develop and deliver a full curriculum spanning MUSV Fundamentals, Operations, Digital Management, Advanced Operator, and Mission Integration/Readiness Exercises. You'll also establish train-the-trainer programs to build long-term organic military capability with the platform.
You'll serve as the liaison between Mission Operations and Saronic's Product and Engineering teams, capturing operator and warfighter feedback from testing and deployments to directly inform design decisions and system refinement. You'll act as the primary operational interface with government customers including DIU, service warfighting labs, NIWC-PAC, and DoD program offices. You'll represent Mission Operations at design reviews and technical meetings as a subject-matter expert, and plan site surveys to assess port infrastructure, environmental conditions, and logistics constraints ahead of field operations.
Required qualifications: U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (500-Ton Master, Oceans); bachelor's degree in engineering, maritime studies, or related field (or equivalent operational experience); 5+ years of operational experience in U.S. military, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, or Special Operations with expertise in littoral/blue-water operations, maritime domain awareness, or ISR/EW support. Experience with unmanned surface vessels, autonomous systems, or remotely operated maritime platforms is a plus. You should have working knowledge of Stand-in Forces, Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations, and distributed maritime operations concepts; proficiency in mission planning software and maritime navigation systems; and demonstrated ability to develop and deliver technical training to military personnel. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential. You must be able to obtain or possess an active security clearance. Up to 75% travel required for field trials, demonstrations, and customer engagements.
