Distributed Spectrum builds AI-powered radio spectrum intelligence systems that detect and classify threats in RF environments. As Mission Operations Engineer, you'll be at the core of transforming raw RF data into actionable intelligence for operational deployments. You'll operate and support live mission deployments using edge-AI sensors, leading hands-on field operations including deployment planning, sensor configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and data validation. You'll design and improve mission workflows by translating operator needs into technical specifications and real-world capabilities, working closely with engineering teams to feed customer insights back into rapid iteration cycles on hardware, software, and AI models. Key responsibilities include supporting mission planning and execution—preparing test scenarios, overseeing data collection during deployments, and coordinating post-mission debriefs. You'll drive training and documentation efforts to ensure internal teams and customers can operate systems efficiently. You'll maintain system health, monitor performance, and contribute to platform development while ensuring data integrity and operational readiness. You bring experience in mission operations or field engineering, ideally in RF, sensing, or autonomy domains. A background in signal processing or communications engineering is expected. You're proficient with data collection workflows, operational tooling, dashboards, and field instrumentation. You have strong troubleshooting skills, adaptability, and an edge-case mindset. You communicate effectively with both technical teams and field operators, and you're willing to travel extensively and work in diverse environments. Nice-to-have qualifications include military or government experience with RF systems, familiarity with autonomous system integration tools, and experience with AI-informed edge-deployed sensors. You must be eligible for US security clearance and meet ITAR requirements (US citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for State Department authorization). Distributed Spectrum offers above-market salary, early Series A equity, excellent health/dental/vision coverage, 401(k) match up to 4%, flexible PTO, and daily office lunches in NYC. You'll join a fast-moving, operator-focused culture where ideas move from concept to deployment in weeks, working alongside cross-disciplinary problem solvers on mission-critical impact.
