Apex manufactures satellite buses (spacecraft platforms) at scale, combining software, vertical integration, and hardware designed for manufacturing. The company serves the rapidly growing commercial space industry as launch costs decrease and payload companies proliferate.
The Mission Manager will serve as the primary liaison between Apex's customers and internal teams (design, engineering, manufacturing) throughout the satellite bus development process. This is a customer-facing operations role requiring strong project coordination, stakeholder management, and technical communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers, providing frequent and comprehensive updates on satellite bus development
- Coordinate deliverables across design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to align with customer requirements
- Implement and manage project schedules to meet contractual milestones and deadlines
- Identify and mitigate project risks and roadblocks proactively
- Translate technical information into clear language for non-technical customers
- Drive customer satisfaction by addressing issues and concerns
- Contribute to continuous improvement of project management processes
Requirements:
- U.S. Person status required (access to export-controlled data)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (advanced degree a plus)
- Minimum 3 years of technical project management experience, preferably in space, aerospace, or defense
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects with tight timelines
- Strong understanding of satellite technology, systems, and space industry trends
- Exceptional communication skills; ability to translate technical jargon for diverse audiences
- Proven stakeholder management and customer service experience
- Proficiency in project management software
- PMP, CAPM, or equivalent project management certification preferred
